Safety Tips for School Age Children

Safety is Key

School age children are trying to be as independent as possible and they are in permanent motion, too, so keeping them safe is not easy at all. Parents cannot guard their children against hazards 24/7, as many of them have local jobs in Denver Colorado neighborhoods, so the best way to prevent accidents is to educate children about how to protect their own safety – here are a few topics to teach your child about:

  • Car safety – riding in the backseat or wearing safety belts is not something that children like too much, so you need to explain them about the importance of these safety measures.
  • Water safety – teach your child how to swim at an early age or enroll him or her into a swimming course to avoid water-related hazards.
  • The stranger danger – teach your child how to react if a stranger starts talking to him or her and emphasize repeatedly how important it is to stay away from people he or she doesn’t know.
  • Fire safety in the home – fireproof your home by installing fire and smoke detectors, by keeping fire extinguishers in strategic places and also teach your children about the dangers of playing with fire as well as about how to act in case of a fire.
