The boom experienced by the construction industry has led to labor shortage – in other words, there are more construction jobs available in the segment than there are people looking for employment and this is especially true for entry level positions like the all important road construction jobs in Colorado labor force. Finding an entry level job in construction has never been so easy, even for people who have no experience in the field – here is how you can land your first construction job very soon:
- Evaluate your existing skills and interests and pick your area – decide whether it is electrical work, cement work or welding is the area that you are interested in or HVAC, carpentry, machinery or some other field that suits your interests;
- Look for apprentice positions – many large construction companies offer apprenticeship programs for people interested in a specific field of construction, but who have no current experience. An apprenticeship position is a form of paid employment that involves actual work performed on a construction site under the supervision of a master as well as formal, classroom learning. Most programs take 3-5 years to complete and they conclude in an exam;
- Look for courses in local trade schools or community colleges – if you want to complete your training before you apply for your first construction job, you can check the courses offered by local schools.
