What To Expect from Your First Day Working In Construction

What To Expect On Your First Day

If you have successfully applied for an entry level construction job and you can hardly wait to see what it will be like to actually work on a construction site, here is what you should expect of your first day:

  • You will have to show up bang on time or, even better, a bit early – being punctual is important in any field of employment, especially if you are a beginner, but in construction, punctuality is an absolute must;
  • Be prepared to meet a lot of new people – you will meet your supervisor, managers, team mates, office staff and you will need to memorize lots of names and faces right on your first day;
  • Be prepared to work hard – even if you have no experience, you will be closely watched and tested during your first day and you will need to prove that you are quick on the uptake and you have an affinity for the job you are about to learn. It is a good idea to invest into good quality work clothes before your first day – you will feel exhausted in the evening and all your body will hurt even if you wear perfectly fitting gear.
