CCN Supporting Companies: Key Component to Success

Since our first class for Construction Careers Now (CCN) back in September of 2016, a key component to the success of the program has been the support we have received from local contractors at the hiring fairs. Each four-week program commences with a hiring fair, where eager-to-hire contractors take time out of their busy construction schedules to support a booth at Emily Griffith Technical College to meet face-to-face with CCN participants.

Providing financial support to attend the hiring fairs helps to offset the cost per student in the CCN program. What is even more valuable is the dedication of resources that these local construction firms make each time they commit key employees to attend these CCN hiring fairs.

We would like to thank all of the companies that have served as a key component to the success of the CCN program to date, including:

Employment/Placement Results

Thus far, with the support of our contractors, out of 226 completers of the CCN program from September, October and November of 2016 and January and February of 2017,

• 104 were hired – 46%

• 24 entered continuing education or received a wage increase in current job – 10.62%

• Combined, 128 are pursuing the industry and have improved their quality of life – 56.64%

Participation/Graduation Results

In addition, we are happy to report the following number of participants and graduates in the CCN program:

  • 269 graduates in the first 6 sessions (through March 2017)
  • 75 participants in our current May 2017 class
  • Over 800 new students registered for upcoming classes

As labor shortage issues continue to plague the construction industry, we have already extended the CCN program through September of 2017. In order to continue educating potential construction employees about the industry and providing them the opportunity to seek gainful employment and further training, we understand we cannot do so without the continued support from our local contractors.

In the words of Napoleon Hill, “It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.”

We would like to thank all of the construction firms that have helped our CCN participants succeed, and look forward to continued success stories from these firms who are able to grow their workforce.
