Several holidays are celebrated on May 1st across the globe, including May Day and International Workers’ Day. Although both holidays represent different causes for celebration, both can be related back a unifying message of renewal and pride in your work.
May Day was originally attributed to a pagan holiday in Roman times, celebrating the festival of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. European countries later adopted this holiday as a celebration of springtime, planting of the new harvest, and renewal of one’s efforts after a long winter.
International Workers’ Day is the equivalent of the celebration of Labor Day here in the United States, where workers are recognized for their resiliency and hard work.
Regardless of the holiday, take the time on May 1st to recognize that you can always start fresh and renew your efforts to better your situation in life. One way to do so is by seeking a new career in construction, so you can take pride in your work and build a new life for you and your family.
Today, the May class for Construction Careers Now (CCN) have already taken that first step to renew themselves by signing up and coming to tonight’s Orientation. In order to reap the benefits of the program, they will attend classes four nights a week for the next four weeks to earn their 10-hour OSHA cards, receive an introduction to construction, and have the opportunity to attend a hiring fair with local eager-to-hire contractors at the end of the program.
If you are looking for an opportunity to renew yourself and take pride in your work, take the first step and register now for Construction Careers Now! Summer classes are filling up quickly.
